Professor Burk Dehority, from Ohio State University, is helping CSIRO scientists to develop new techniques of fighting sheep diseases. Dehority, a leading authority on rumen microbiology, is involved in a project of researchers from CSIRO Livestock Industries to culture protozoa living in the guts of ruminant livestock. Protozoa can reduce the efficiency of feed utilisation by ruminants.
