A deal executed by National Australia Bank has secured the "Insto" award for "Mortgage-backed securities deal of the year" for 2004. The deal in question was the $A2.5 billion equivalent global SEC-registered registered residential mortgage-backed securities (RMBS) deal referred as the National RMBS Trust 2004-1. A total of 49 investors took part in the deal, described by one Australian fund manager as being the "Rolls-Royce of Aussie RMBS" and by Bob Sohota of PIMCO as being as close to bullet-proof as you can get with an RMBS deal.
