Australian regional pay-TV group Austar lifted sales revenue 20 in calendar 2004, to $A388.5 million. Although net profit fell from $A3.8 million in 2003 to $A1.8 million, the 2003 result was skewed by a $A24.5 million gain from the sale of a 42 stake in TelstraClear and a depreciation write-back of some $A40 million. CEO John Porter says the 2004 result was the best for "quite some time". He said recent growth has been driven by new digital programs and the roll-out of technology cutting the piracy rate.
