SingPower hives off local power assets.(Singapore Power Company Ltd.)(Brief Article)

Singaporean power company, Singapore Power, is selling some of its Australian assets. It bought the assets of US-based company, TXU Corporation, for $A5.1 billion in April 2004. In February 2005, it is selling the retail and generation assets, which are valued at about $A1.6 billion. There are five potential buyers, which include Australian energy company Alinta, UK power company International Power, and Hong Kong power utility CLP Holdings. Singapore Power will retain the gas and electricity distribution assets.
