Australian oil and gas producer Santos has announced that production at its Mutineer-Exeter oil fields will begin in March 2005. Santos has brought production at the Western Australian oil fields forward by several months and under budget, and it attributes this to the fact that it took delivery of a Floating Production, Storage and Offtake facility ahead of schedule. Initial output will be 70,000 to 90,000 barrels of oil a day. Meanwhile, Santos indicates that its proven reserves now total 348 million barrels of oil, up from 338 million at the end of 2003.
