The Expro Group is looking to develop an autonomous subsea system that would be used by oil and gas companies. The system would be used by such companies to monitor and maintain the estimated 2,300 subsea wells in operation around the world, as well as a predicted similar number of wells that are expected to be commissioned over the next five years. Companies like ChevronTexaco and BP are being involved in the development of the new autonomous subsea system, which is intended to be used from low-cost surface vessels.
