The number of floats to be launched on the Australian Stock Exchange in the 2004-05 financial year is expected to reach 200. There has been a flurry of listings so far in 2004-05, and the float activity looks set to continue. However, Tower Australia's Guy Hutchings says the new listings have not all been investment-grade. Other analysts claim that many of the floats have merely been "cash-box raisings" by listed investment companies and private equity vehicles. Companies considering a public listing in 2005 include Tattersall's, Domino's and Transpacific Industries.
