The large Australian telco, Telstra, now owns the Kaz Group, which it purchased for $A342 million. The acquisition has so far been a lacklustre performer for Telstra and a number of executives at Kaz Group have left. The data from the Telstra interim report suggests that the Kaz acquisition "went backwards" in the half-year to 31 December 2004. The technology services division of Telstra made the acquisition of the Kaz Group, in 2004. Kaz Group recently lost two bids for work in South Australia. Some observers believe that it is uncertain whether Telstra can make the acquisition of Kaz Group work.
