DJs confidence rises.(David Jones Ltd.)(Brief Article)

Australian department store chain David Jones has reported a 22 increase in first-half net profit to $A52.9 million. EBIT for the group's department store business increased by 19.7 to $A59.6m in the period. It was David Jones' best interim result since listing in 1995. Shares in the company increased $A0.13 to $A2.08 on 22 March 2005. A fully franked interim dividend of $A0.06 a share was declared. David Jones CEO, Mark McInnes, said he is confident the company can continue to perform well despite the downturn in consumer spending.
