San Miguel wants the Australian Takeovers Panel to intervene in Fonterra's takeover bid for National Foods. The Philippines-based food and drink conglomerate says Fonterra should not be withholding details of a possible joint venture involving Sodima's Yoplait yoghurt brand. San Miguel, whose takeover bid for National Foods was trumped by the New Zealand dairy group in early March 2005, argues that the target's shareholders have a right to know the facts before they vote on the deal. San Miguel's stance is seen as an indication that it is considering sweetening its bid.
