Australian upmarket department store chain, David Jones, will open up to six new outlets. In a television interview on 27 March 2005, CEO Mark McInnes said that David Jones, which presently has 34 stores, could expand to 40. In recent years, David Jones has trumped its arch rival Myer. There is talk that Myer's parent company, Coles Myer, may demerge or spin off its struggling department store business. Investment bank, Carnegie Wylie, has been hired to provide advice on its future.
