Andrew Reitzer is CEO of Metcash Trading, the leading independent grocery retailer and wholesaler in Australia. Metcash is owned by Metoz, a new vehicle founded by South Africa's Metro Cash & Carry in 2004. Reitzer has worked at Metro for 27 years. Metcash is involved in a hostile takeover bid for Foodland, and some shareholders in Metoz are unhappy with plans for Metcash's partial management buyout of its parent group. Franklins may take legal action against Metcash over a cancelled supply chain deal. Reitzer says such challenges pale beside the takeover of David's, Metcash's predecessor, in 1998.
