The New Zealand (NZ) Direct Marketing Association became the NZ Marketing Association in February 2005. Its name change reflects the growth of direct marketing into a mainstream discipline. According to the NZ Post's MediaScene survey, advertisers in NZ outlaid around 8.2 per cent of their media spend in 2004 on direct marketing. Technological developments such as email, CDs and DVDs, Really Simple Syndication, blogs, mobile telephones, and more recently, interactive TV, have changed the possibilities of direct marketing.
