Australia's major banks have customer satisfaction levels of between 65 and 73 per cent, according to Roy Morgan Research's latest figures. However, smaller banks, credit unions and building societies such as the Bendigo Bank and Heritage Building Society were able to command ratings of over 90 per cent. Rob Hunt, the CEO of Bendigo Bank, believes its high rating can be attributed to the fact that it tries to identify how its products can help its customers achieve success. Trevor Barbeler, head of marketing at Heritage, says having fewer staff than the big banks makes it easier for smaller financial services firms to maintain consistent customer service.
