Australians reluctant to recycle old mobile telephones.(Brief Article)

Australians are not recycling their old mobile telephones. They are hoarding them and are reluctant to throw them out. The Australian Government set up a mobile telephone recycling program around five years ago, in 2000, but this has never got off the ground. Experts believe that there are around 12.4 million handsets lying around unused. The Australian Mobile Telecommunications Association wants to find ways to encourage people to do this recycling. The Association believes that consumers would hand in the telephones if a charitable donation was made for every recycled telephone.
