An inquiry is critical of investigations into research misconduct at the University of New South Wales. There have been seven internal and three external inquiries into allegations of research misconduct by transplant immunologist, Professor Bruce Hall. An inquiry by the St James' Ethics Centre found that the affair could have been resolved simply if agreed legal and industrial procedures had been followed. It recommended that scientific data should be assessed by independent experts before an inquiry is undertaken.
