Australian-listed APN News & Media owns newspapers and radio stations. It is controlled by the Ireland-based Independent News & Media. On 27 April 2005, APN provided some profit guidance for the market. Its CEO, Brendan Hopkins, predicted that the group will achieve a net profit of "at least" $A141 million in the year to 31 December 2005. On the day, APN shares rose by $A0.13 to close at $A4.81. The company also announced that it will buy back around 10 of its ordinary stock. Hopkins noted that the group has no acquisition strategies.
