Glencore grabs 7% of Austral.(Austral Coal Ltd., Glencore International AG)(Brief Article)

Swiss group Glencore has gained a five per cent stake in struggling Australian coal miner, Austral Coal. It also has share swap arrangements with a few investment banks and as a result, this interest potentially rises to 7.4 per cent. Glencore says it wants to have a say in any merger talks between Austral and Centennial Coal. It also says it is looking at a counter-bid possibly emerging.
