Retail giants at war.(David Jones Ltd., Myer)(Brief Article)

The battle between Australian department stores, David Jones and Myer, is being waged in Brisbane. David Jones is spending $A30 million on a new store in the Queen Street Mall. Myer is renovating its store in the mall. Coles Myer is reviewing the performance of Myer, whose sales only rose by 1.4 per cent in the last half-year. David Jones is positive about the future outlook. Its sales rose by 5.5 per cent in the same period and it feels that expansion is a possibility.
