George Weston Foods (GWF)'s new bakery in the Sydney suburb of Chullora is expected to begin initial production in March 2005. The $A130 million plant is expected to be fully operational by late 2005. It is being built by AW Edwards, and APV Baker, Kaak & Bernier and PC Data are some of its main equipment providers. The new factory appears to have been the motivation for the announcement by GWF's main rival, Goodman Fielder, that it had contracted Bakery Combinations Australia to install a new bread-making line at its Clayton plant in Melbourne. The line will be capable of making 10,000 loaves an hour.
