Australian telco, Telstra, plans to cut a large number of jobs in 2005. It is targeting middle management, as well as some senior management. It is thought that between 1,000 and 1,500 positions could be made redundant. Telstra has increased its redundancy provisions to at least $A50 million for each half of the year. The greatest reductions are expected to be in the Big Pond retail internet division and the business and government division. Telstra's share price fell for a second day, closing down by $A0.05 at $A4.89 on 21 April 2005.
