The US Federal Reserve and the Reserve Bank of Australia (RBA) will make decisions on interest rates in the week starting 2 May 2005. Lower than anticipated inflation figures for the 2005 first quarter could prompt the RBA to leave Australian interest rates on hold. However, the general consensus is that US interest rates will be lifted by 0.25 of a percentage point. St George Bank, Westpac and the ANZ Bank are all scheduled to release their latest profit results during the week. Orica, SingTel and News Corporation are among the other groups due to report during the week.
