Singtel has some advantage over Telstra.(SingTel Optus Proprietary Ltd.)(Brief Article)
Australasian Business Intelligence, May, 2005 by Maiden, Malcolm

Singtel Optus will report its results for the 12 months to March 2005 on 4 May. The figures will indicate slowing profit and will suggest the telco has reached what may be termed "correct weight". However, the results will also likely serve as a reminder to Telstra of the opportunities it missed in Asia. Optus is essentially a smaller version of Telstra, and the two companies face similar growth problems in Australia. However, Optus is only a branch of the larger Singapore Telecommunications, which wisely expanded into Asia several years ago. As a result, Optus has better growth prospects than Telstra.
