Gas from the Gorgon project off Western Australia will be exported to two new terminals in Mexico. The terminal owned by Shell and Sempra is already under construction and is expected to be ready in 2007-08. Shell is one of the three partners in the Gorgon project, which is expected to begin production in 2009-10. The other terminal will be built by Gorgon's operator, ChevronTexaco. Australian companies, Woodside Petroleum and BHP Billiton, are among the leading contenders to build two terminals in California.
