A new theory about superconductors proposes that protons can also move unobstructed through metal. Superconductivity has been studied in certain metals at low temperatures where electrons form pairs which can move through the metallic lattice. Physicist Julian Brown, of Oxford University, argues that protons can also form pairs and move through the lattice. They are heavier and the phenomenon should occur at room temperature. However, they interact more easily with impurities. Other experiments give some support to the theory.
