Australian alcoholic beverages group, Foster's, has secured 50.9 per cent control of its target, wine company Southcorp. It reached the milestone after fund manager Portfolio Partners accepted its $A4.26-a-share offer, an offer it now says is unconditional. Foster's will need at least 90 per cent of Southcorp though if it wants full sway over its operations. Analysts and Southcorp's board believe Foster's is hoping to achieve $A140 million in cost-savings from integrating the businesses.
