The Australian Competition & Consumer Commission (ACCC) has ruled on the advertising of certain types of cigarettes. British American Tobacco and Philip Morris, the leading manufacturers in the sector in Australia, have agreed to discontinue their use of the terms "light" and "mild" for those of their products containing less nicotine. However, Imperial Tobacco has refused to comply, saying it would be unable to make the changes by the ACCC's deadline. Nor will it contribute to a public health information campaign, to be funded by the market leaders with $A4m each.
