New cars are being given to specialists in Tasmania's three public hospitals to attract them and keep them in the state. The cars are not owned by the staff, but they use them for three years or 40,000km, then they are sold. The Ford Territory and Subaru Liberty are reportedly among the most popular choices by the specialists. It has been announced 65 staff specialists at the Royal Hobart Hospital are eligible to receive cars, petrol cards, mobile telephones and laptop computers. The Tasmanian Government pays for the incentives, which are in addition to salaries.
