Collapsing mobiles market caps off bad news for T3 and Optus.
Australasian Business Intelligence, July, 2005

The Australian mobile telephone market is slowing in 2005. It is thought that growth of subscriber numbers and revenue slowed in the fourth quarter of 2004-05. Citigroup predicts that revenue growth will fall from 11 per cent in 2004-05 to four per cent in 2006-07. There is strong competition among the four large telcos, which are investing in third generation networks, capped plans and new services. The slowing market could affect the full sale of Telstra, as the company's growth has depended on the mobile telephone segment. Rival, Optus, has the greatest exposure to the market.
