US-based global media group News Corporation is to acquire internet company Intermix Media for $A776m. Intermix owns more than 30 web sites, including the very popular MySpace.com, which will become part of News's new Fox Interactive Media division. MySpace.com, an online meeting place which allows people to share photographs, instant messages and music, attracts around 8 of all internet advertising. News Corporation CEO, Rupert Murdoch, noted that the number of visitors to the group's web sites would instantly double as a result of the Intermix acquisition.
