Australasian Business Intelligence, August, 2005

Aug 22, 2005 (The Advertiser - ABIX via COMTEX) -- Woolworths recorded 12.3 sales growth in 2004-05, in contrast to Coles Myer's mediocre
10.7 growth. The Australian supermarket, liquor and petrol chain made a healthy $A790.5m in profit. Its supermarkets
generated revenue of $A1.1bn, while Woolworths' petrol outlets proliferated across the nation and brought in revenue of $A3.3bn. The company now has 458 petrol stations. Woolworths expects profit growth to continue, and says it has not been badly hit by fuel price rises. However, it expects
slightly slower growth in 2005-06.
