Voice over Wi-Fi boosted by trials.

Australasian Business Intelligence, August, 2005

Aug 04, 2005 (Electronics News - ABIX via COMTEX) -- BellSouth recently started a converged enterprise system trial in Atlanta. ABI

Research reports that the trial marks a step toward voice over Wi-Fi. Philip Solis, a senior analyst at ABI Research, notes that British Telecom launched its Bluephone service soon after the BellSouth trials commenced. Solis explains that although Bluephone uses Bluetooth as opposed to 802.11, it is viewed as the telco's precursor to voice over Wi-Fi. Solis says that more dual-mode cellular and Wi-Fi handsets are due to be released in the next year.
