Warning issued on sim card abuses.

Aug 07, 2005 (Northern Territory News - ABIX via COMTEX) -- Northern Territory police are concerned about mobile telephone subscriber identification module (SIM) card sales. Many SIMs are being

purchased over the counter without proof of identity. Police say legislation requires telephone service providers to keep records of purchase and personal details. Failure to

do so, they warn, breaches guidelines established by the Australian Communications Authority and allows criminals to operate without fear of detection.
