Sep 25, 2005 (The Sydney Morning Herald - ABIX via COMTEX) -- The "2005 World Solar Challenge" race from Darwin in the Northern Territory to Adelaide in South Australia has begun. The favourite
vehicle is that of Dutch entry, the Nuon Solar Team, which previously won the event in 2001 and 2003. Its main challengers are Australia's Aurora Vehicle Association and the University of Michigan in the US. The record time for the race is also held by the Dutch competitors, at 32 hours and 39 minutes.
