Sep 20, 2005 (The Australian - ABIX via COMTEX) -- Macquarie University in New South Wales has outlined plans to outsource the jobs of 60 IT workers. In September 2005, the institution announced the elimination of all but one of its internal IT services positions. Academics are concerned that the move towards
outsourcing will increase costs and could constitute a potential threat to privacy. The Community & Public Sector Union and the National Tertiary Education Union claim that
they were not consulted on the planned job cuts.
