Doubts cast on safety of ADHD medications.

Sep 18, 2005 (The Australian - ABIX via COMTEX) -- A US study of drugs used to treat attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) in children has drawn some worrying conclusions.The Oregon State University report looking at 2200 studies into 16 ADHD drugs found little evidence that many of the drugs were effective, and that there has been little in the way of long-term studies into the health effects of ADHD medication. The researchers

excluded 2107 reports as "unreliable", and based its findings on the remaining 180 studies. An estimated 60,000 Australian children are taking medication for ADHD, and

prescriptions for ADHD drugs such as Ritalin...
