CBA faces fines over pay injustice.
Australasian Business Intelligence, September, 2005
Byline: Eric Johnston
Sep 12, 2005 (The Australian Financial Review - ABIX via COMTEX) -- Some fishy Commonwealth Bank of Australia (CBA) labour-hire practices have been criticised in court. In 2002 all of the
bank's Premium Financial Services unit employees were transferred to CommSec, where they performed exactly the same work for the CBA, but with less pay and fewer rights. The
Federal Court has found that CommSec effectively behaved as a labour-hire business. CBA has been told that it must
cease forcing employees to move between its businesses, and it may have to pay extensive fines.
