Sep 11, 2005 (The Age - ABIX via COMTEX) -- Babcock & Brown (B&B) Power Operating Partners has gained preliminary approval for
a $US300 million ($A387 million) power line. The proposed Trans Bay Cable transmission line has been approved by California
Independent System Operator directors. This regulatory body oversees most of California's electricity system, but before full approval occurs, B&B needs environmental endorsement.
Although Pacific Gas & Electric made a $US274 million proposal, the system operator preferred B&B's proposal.
