Sep 06, 2005 (BRW - ABIX via COMTEX) -- IDC calculates that Australians spent $A1.53 billion on non-voice mobile telephone services in 2004. The launch of third- generation (3G) mobile services by Vodafone, Telstra and Optus should broaden the range of

non-voice services on the market. There is optimism about the opportunities of 3G, given that just 10 per cent of mobile owners have downloaded ringtones, and nine per cent used

multimedia message services (MMS). Martin Hoffman, the CEO of ninemsn, thinks MMS and short message services will be the biggest sources of growth for his firm. IDC forecasts strong music and video sales.
