Business investment strikes gold in mining boom.

Sep 01, 2005 (The Australian - ABIX via COMTEX) -- Business investment increased in Australia during 2004-05, led by the resources

industry. The Australian Bureau of Statistics reports that capital expenditure rose to a record $A57 billion in 2004-05.

Resources companies invested $A10 billion in new projects during the period. Investment spending was $A15 billion in the June quarter of 2005, a rise of 7.3 per cent. Investment

by mining companies rose by 13 per cent over the quarter. The increase in investment will lead to a rise in export volumes.
