per year. The category expanded by 5.5 per cent on a mass annual turnover basis in the year to August 2005. Nestle Peters is the market leader. Both Nestle Peters and Unilever Streets have aligned their innovation strategies with the category's main growth segments: refreshment, children's

ice cream and adult indulgence. A Nestle official reports that premium tubs and multi- packs account for over 19.8 per cent of ice cream sales, up from 13.2 per cent three years ago.
