Telecom NZ's AAPT plans find favour.

Oct 13, 2005 (The Australian Financial Review - ABIX via COMTEX) -- A range of analysts have expressed support for plans by Telecom Corporation of New Zealand (NZ) to sell its AAPT operation.

Richard Eary and David Boyce, of ABN Amro Morgans, claim that there could be positive effects for Telecom shareholders, in that a sale worth about $NZ700 million could result

in payment of a $NZ0.20-a-share dividend. However, they also claim that Telecom could also face higher interest rates in NZ. Meanwhile, Tim Smart of Macquarie Bank says the sale of AAPT is good business planning on Telecom's part, as Telecom could potentially achieve all of its goals in...
