Nov 28, 2005 (The Australian Financial Review - ABIX via COMTEX) -- Mallesons Stephen Jaques partner Philip Argy has been elected president of the Australian Computer Society. However, controversy
surrounds the election results, and the decision to use a preferential voting system.KPMG's Kumar Parakala had been seen as the favourite to win the election, and most likely would have done so if a "first-past- the-post" voting system had been used. Meanwhile, some members of the ACS are concerned about the non-profit organisation's $A990,0000 deficit for 2005.
