Beattie calls for bigger skill pool.

Nov 14, 2005 (The Australian - ABIX via COMTEX) -- Queensland Premier Peter Beattie wants a national accreditation system established for the technology industry. This will enable employers to reduce their reliance on university graduates and help meet the shortage of skilled workers. He told an Australian Computer Society meeting in November 2005 that although the demand for workers with information, communication and

technology (ICT) skills will continue to grow, fewer young people are enrolling in ICT courses. He has proposed a national summit on the issue to be held in 2006.
