Rough ride for thirsty local six-cylinder cars.

Nov 09, 2005 (The Age - ABIX via COMTEX) -- In October 2005, Australia's large car market continued its significant deterioration.

Approximately 50 per cent of Ford's Falcon production became inventory, and nearly 40 per cent of GM Holden's Commodore. Although Holden has refused to officially comment on its inventory position, it is believed that the high number led to its October 2005 launch of an Employee Pricing marketing

campaign. However, the exports of Australian- made six-cylinder vehicles remains strong. Some of the supply and demand problems are expected to be resolved through greater discounting over December and into early 2006.
