Australasian Business Intelligence, December, 2005

Dec 20, 2005 (The Australian - ABIX via COMTEX) -- A Monash University study has found 30ml of brandy has the same antioxidant potential as the recommended daily dose of vitamin C. The study was a joint project by the university's physics and chemistry departments. Gordon Troup from the physics department said brandy helps prevent strokes and protects against the onset of some types of dementia by keeping the arteries open. Copper that becomes present in brandy during the distillation process is the primary source of the antioxidants. The research team has also found that whisky is similar in terms of its
antioxidant potential.
