Hurricanes may deliver a blow to QBE.

Dec 04, 2005 (The Australian Financial Review - ABIX via COMTEX) -- Australian-listed QBE Insurance Group will be affected by the 2005 US hurricane season. QBE is the only Australian insurer to face payouts on these hurricanes. Analysts have warned that QBE's payouts on the hurricanes could put its earnings under pressure. QBE uses reinsurance, and this will help to limit the exposure to the hurricanes. Lloyd's of London has warned that the major US hurricanes have resulted in big payouts. QBE garners about one-quarter of its revenue from
reinsurance.
