Jobless rate opens east-west gap.
Australasian Business Intelligence, January, 2006

Jan 19, 2006 (The Sydney Morning Herald - ABIX via COMTEX) -- Sydney's suburbs show alarming disparity in terms of unemployment rates. Overall, the city has an unemployment level of 4.7, but
in practice this ranges from comfortable lows such as the eastern suburbs' 2.1 to nasty highs of almost 10 in western areas. Macquarie University expert Robert Fagan asserts that it is lack of access to resources such as child care, public
transport and education that is keeping people in low socio-economic areas out of work. The Liberal Party of New South Wales (NSW) has accused the NSW Government of bad
economic management.
