Feb 23, 2006 (The Australian Financial Review - ABIX via COMTEX) -- Australian engineering group, Downer EDI, has posted a 50 per cent rise in net profit to $A69.6 million for the first half of 2005-06.CEO Steve Gillies says that after a cautious start to the year, the company is more confident about its future growth prospects. Rising costs in the mining, transport and
infrastructure sectors are positive for Downer EDI because it will encourage more outsourcing. The company is presently
involved in a dispute with Iluka Resources, claiming $A105 million for extra costs, but Gillies believes that the odds are on its side. Downer's shares...
