Virgin Blue fleet options hinge on long-haul plans.
Australasian Business Intelligence, February, 2006

Feb 20, 2006 (Aviation Business Magazine - ABIX via COMTEX) -- Virgin Blue, established in 2001, has continued with its single aircraft strategy since then. The Australian airline operates only Boeing 737s, and had a fleet of 51 of the aircraft in its fleet as of 31 December 2005. Virgin Blue, whose ownership is somewhat up in the air at the moment as a result of the takeover bid by Toll Holdings for its majority owner Patrick Corporation, would need to abandon its one-aircraft policy
should it add routes outside of Australia to its operations. It is also believed to be considering turbo-propeller planes for some of its shorter routes.
